I mostly agree with you, except for the Trojan Horse, an example of form over function. Beautifully crafted but idiotic in serving the needs of its inhabitants or suspending the disbelief of this audience member.
The film was as relentlessly boring as its star. Only the scene with Samantha Morton compelled my attention.
You are right about so much, especially the hapless staging of the execution of the suitors.
“The interesting thing to me is that they have seen the cultural verdict come in, but are still doubling down – I haven’t quite seen this before.”
It's wild watching Con., Inc. go all in on pushing this film. It might be a cope, but for me, I recognize that Nolan is smart enough to remember what Hollywood forgot for over a decade: rat poison only works when it tastes good.

Great even-handed review. Thank you!
Thank you for (the usual) clear-eyed, compelling and original take.

A nice even-handed assessment. I have yet to watch the film so cannot judge how accurate your review is yet :)
What this movie has shown is how much and under what conditions the public will accept left-wing ideas.
